#47 The piano
I love the piano, I can not play but my dad is fantastic! Some of my most found memories are of me standing singing next to our Piano while my dad played. When my family still lived in England no visit home was complete without our music time together. I love my dad for sharing his love of music with me and making me feel spectacular when I accompanied his playing with my little voice.

I too have great memories of you singing around that old Steinhart Upright Grand Piano, your singing was always better than my playing! That lovable antique piece of furniture, a beautiful instrument some hundred years young, with its original ivory keys and in years past, its swinging pair of brass candle stick holders, was a companion to me for over 40 years, many of those years spent with you singing all types of music from nursery rhymes, hymns, musicals and even to creating some of our own compositions of words and music – such wonderful times.
It was a sad day for me when I had to say goodbye to that old mahogany masterpiece, those Ivory Keys which had graced my fingers many hundreds of thousands of times had to be left behind in England when we crossed the great pond. I gave her to family who could not afford a piano and know that she is in good hands, I hope she will play for many more years and favour others with the blessings of fine music sounds she always gave to us.
