Utah, Family, Friends and GRADUATION!

Last Wednesday we set off to Utah, the place that used to be home. Jack was a gem on the car drive. We stayed at our dear friend's the Fowers whom we class as family. They were so good to us and we loved every minute with them. Jack especially loved them and their ferret and would frequently ask "Cheryl's house please?"

Thursday was spent Geo chasing and catching up with my Brother's family. Yes, we finally got to see Rachael the newest member of our family and she was perfect. To be honest I felt a little awkward holding her. I guess I have forgotten how to hold newborns but my awkwardness aside it was lovely to bond with her and play with Josh. Jack and Josh played really well this time. I love to watch Jack interact with his cousins. We talk about his cousins all the time and he was so excited to see them.

Friday began with more Geo cashing up Rock Canyon and after climbing up rocks we finally found the little treasure. Then there was a lunch with lots of family at Jason's Deli which was delicious! If you haven't gone there you MUST...

...And then it was time for me to Graduate. It was AWESOME! I was a little nervous that I would feel weird as I still have my independent study class to finish by July but I was wrong. It felt very real and wonderful to be with all my dancing friends and great teachers. I was so thrilled to see people so dear to my heart who have would broadened my view of the world and of myself. I have really loved my BYU experience, I have been blessed beyond measure. Looking back on the last 5 and a half years there have been times (after having Jack) that I wanted to give up but I am so happy that I stuck at it. I have learnt how to use my time efficiently and how to prioritize my life. Through gaining an education I have grown closer to my Heavenly Father and have a greater appreciation for his wisdom and Omnipotent knowledge. Having my mum there was very special, I wish my Dad could have been there but it was not to be. My mum and dad and other special people (you know who you are) have sacrificed much in helping me achieve this goal. I will always be indebted to you and pray that I will continue to feast after knowledge and use it for good. Thank-you to Ben's family for sitting through my graduation, you are all so special to me and have adopted me as one of your own, I am very grateful.

After my graduation we hopped over to Ben's. I am so proud of Ben. He graduated with a Masters in Accountancy and now I will brag; he graduated with distinction and Magna Cum Laude. I am so proud of his accomplishments but most of all I am proud of the person he is. He always has put Jack and I before school. He frequently switched up his schedule to make room for family time. Not only is my hubby a smarty pants but he is an exceptional husband and father. He lives an honorable life and demonstrates Christlike qualities each day. I love you Ben!

What can I say, we are a thumbs up kind of family...

The weather man had predicted rain but he was wrong because we had spectacular weather. It was a very special day for me.

Saturday was a lovely day full of family and friends. Thanks to Jessica and Jason we were able to have a big family breakfast at their home, they are always so generous. Our family is quite large and still growing, it is full of many different personalities. Although we are all so different we are held together by the common love of being a family and being there for one another. It was lovely to see everyone and spend time together.

Saturday afternoon we got to see Carlee's baby; Link. I have missed Carlee being just doors away always willing to help and serve me. Her new little baby is tiny and perfect. Jack was especially excited about seeing Reid (Carlee's 2 year old.) They haven't seen each other in almost five months and yet they were thrilled to be reunited. After a fun little play session they said good bye with a snuggle, it was adorable. On the way home Jack told us that he missed Reid the most.

BBQ at the Fowers was full of spectacular food and great company. We got to be with dear friends who were there for us when we first entered the world of married life and are still great friends. We have so many memories together. I love these people so much.

All in all it was a superb trip, one that will not be forgotten.

We had a great time with you guys. Sam and Jack played so well together, I wish they could do it more often. Thanks for giving us an excuse to come to Utah. And you should feel proud, graduating college is a HUGE accomplishment, especially when you have a child. I have been there. I was so proud of Ben, although a little jealous he beat me with the Magna Cum laude in the hardest Accounting program in the country! My cum laude in the tiny little human development and family studies college at the U, just doesn't compare!
