A trip to Salt Lake

Last Friday my dear friend Carlee, aka wonder woman, and I took a trip up to Salt Lake. The weather was glorious! The kids loved it. We walked around temple square, visited the statue of Christ in the visitors center, played on the grass, took pictures, had lunch and paid an arm and a leg for parking- don't park under the conference center!
Each time I visit the Salt lake temple I am amazed at its beauty, buildings are not made like that anymore. It reminds me of the great sacrifices made by early saints. What fervent faith they had. The Salt Lake temple's majestic architecture is a living testimony that God will prevail.

Jack insited on attempting to behead every flower insight.

I LOVE dafodils!

Jack pretending to be the prophets son.

These are so funny. They were determined not to look at the camera.

Me and J-man!

I love this flower.

Jack with cool hair and endless drool

Ben turned 25!

Last week Ben had yet another birthday. He is a quarter of a century now, the big 25. Sad for him, he had a crazy day with presentations at school and lots of homework. We did get to go out for dinner at Tucanos. The food was excellent, endless meat, yum yum.
We also took a trip to the tumble gym. The tumble gym is a fun place where great amounts of bouncing happens.

Jack was excited about helping Ben open his pressies. He got a lot of backpacking essentials. We hope to spend lots of time out in the wilderness this summer.

I feel so blessed to have Ben in my life. He makes me laugh, brings me great joy and helps me be a better person.

General Conference, playing at the park and enjoying the outdoors!

Well, general conference is such a different experience when it is shared with Jack. Jack was very enthralled by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, when they sang his eyes were wide and his whole countenance quiet. Yes, I appreciated the many songs. But jack was not quiet as entertained with the speakers so needles to say Ben and I didn't really listen to a whole talk. Although I don't remember any talks I do remember feeling the spirit. I know that God lives and has called his new prophet President Monson. I know President Monson speaks the words of God. Wow. I am so blessed to know this!
I was reading a talk given by Susan Tanner from conference and this part captured my attention,

I take great delight in my role as a nurturer, which allows me to express my deepest identity as a woman. I never fail to be struck by the way that women, young women, and even little girls seem to have an instinctive interest and ability in nurturing. It is not only a mother’s primary responsibility but also part of our “individual premortal, mortal, and eternal identity and purpose.”

I, too love being a mother and strive to enhance my responsibilities as a nurturer.

Over conference weekend Ben and I took Jack to several parks, he is really starting to love playing on slides and swings.

Here are some pictures I took while we were out and about.

After conference Ben and Jack put up our two man tent because Ben has "backpacking" fever. Sigh, I sure love them. Note Jacks static hair.

A little project!

On Sunday I found myself with some extra time, instead of my usual instinct to waste it I decided to begin an exciting project. This project will surely bring many giggles into our home. I decided to make a puppet theatre; I know you are jealous. Now we have the incredible theatre (held together by a million staples) Jack and I need to work on our sock puppets, we will be thrilled to receive suggestions.
